Hey there! We’re Viv & Kev.
Two London-based city people who grew up in Hong Kong and somehow fell in love with mountains.
By day, we work 9–6 jobs in the city, and whenever we can, we swap city life for a few days in the mountains.
We’re not expert hikers or hardcore adventurers, just two people who love being outside, trying new things and following a trail wherever it leads.
Somewhere along the way, hiking became our favourite way to travel.
Learning our way into the mountains
We started with simple day hikes. Then came multi-day treks, hut-to-hut adventures and bigger mountains.
Over the years, we’ve taken on trails and mountains from Iceland’s Laugavegur Trail and Everest Base Camp to the Dolomites Alta Via 4, with summits including Mt. Fuji, Mt. Kinabalu, Mt. Toubkal and Mt. Yari along the way.
But the jump from a city day-hiker to spending several days in the mountains is a steep one.
There’s a lot to learn - planning a route, navigating, choosing the right gear, understanding the weather and, most importantly, knowing how to stay safe.
It took us a while to figure it out.
Indescribable Moments was born from that journey.
Going a little further
We created this space to share the joy we found outdoors and make it a little easier for others to find it too.
Maybe you’ve only ever done day hikes and want to take your first step into the mountains. Or maybe you’re already dreaming about your next hut-to-hut adventure.
We want to help bridge that gap.
We share hiking guides, itineraries, gear, practical tips and the things we wish we’d known when we started.
We care especially about safety and mountain education and safety. We’re not professional mountain guides, but we believe that proper preparation, understanding the mountains and knowing your limits are all part of becoming a more confident hiker. Everything we share comes from our own experiences.
We travel to slow down
For us, travel has never really been about ticking places off a list.
It’s the 4am starts, long days on the trail, unexpected detours, meals after a hard climb, conversations with strangers and sitting quietly somewhere beautiful with nowhere else we need to be.
The adventures we remember most aren’t necessarily the ones where we saw the most.
They’re the ones where we had time to breathe.
That’s what we want to share.
We believe in travelling thoughtfully
The more we travel, the more we realise how lucky we are to experience these places.
We try to travel slowly where we can, respect local communities, stay on marked trails, follow local regulations, support local businesses and leave places as we found them.
We don’t believe beautiful places should be gatekept.
We believe they should be shared responsibly - with the information people need to visit safely, respectfully and with a little more awareness of the places they’re stepping into.
Because seeing somewhere is one thing.
Taking the time to understand it is another.

For the city-dweller wondering where to start, the first-time trekker taking their next step, and the experienced hiker dreaming about their next challenge.
We’ll share the trails we’ve loved, the places we’ve returned to, the mistakes we’ve made and the things we wish we’d known before setting off.
Because we don’t just want to show you where to go.
